Meet the Pastors

Mark was born in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in
History in 1985 at Geneva College in Beaver Falls. Mark then
graduated with a Master of Divinity at the Reformed Presbyterian
Theological Seminary in Wilkinsburg, PA. in 1988. In the Fall of
1988 Mark served as an assistant pastor at Timonium Presbyterian
Church in Maryland. He then received a call to be the pastor at
Calvary in 1991 and has served here ever since. Mark was married
to Marlene in 1985 and the Benders have four children: Johanna,
Caroline, Alexandra and John. Mark enjoys landscaping, rooting
for the Steelers and science fiction movies.

Adam was born in Memphis, TN (“thank you, thank you very much”), although he claims Atlanta, Georgia as his hometown having spent the majority of his childhood there. Adam graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and Covenant Theological Seminary with a Masters of Divinity. He has been married to his wife Lydia for eight years and has two children, Ethan and Kara (Adam also refers to his children as “agents of sanctification”). Adam came to Calvary in the spring of 2004 and serves Calvary as an Associate Pastor. Adam enjoys reading, rooting for the Bulldogs and his other favorite sports teams, and spending unhurried time with family and friends.
