UNION MISSION/HOPE HAVEN:
The Union Mission houses the homeless and women in crisis. They have recently moved from downtown Norfolk to Calvary’s neighborhood on the outskirts of Norfolk. Calvary was privileged to take a tour of their new facilities and now is helping to stock the facility with some of their basic needs. In an ongoing effort, Calvary is collecting items such as sheets, towels, washcloths, soap and pillowcases.
Hope Haven is a facility connected to Union Mission, but located in Virginia Beach on North Landing Road. In this serene, rural area are located the beautiful shelters for distressed children and senior citizens. They also host a yearly summer camp for disadvantaged children.
ONESIMUS:
This facility operates at no cost to the state or federal governments but by the generous support of various churches and Christian families and organizations in Hampton Roads. The Onesimus goal is to break the cycle of incarceration by working with local courts who have the option of assigning offenders to the Training Center located on Pocaty Road in Chesapeake. All applicants are thoroughly screened and given an opportunity to learn a trade and work their way back into society.
