UNION MISSION/HOPE HAVEN:
The Union Mission houses the homeless and women in crisis. They have recently moved from downtown Norfolk to Calvary’s neighborhood on the outskirts of Norfolk. Calvary was privileged to take a tour of their new facilities and now is helping to stock the facility with some of their basic needs. In an ongoing effort, Calvary is collecting items such as sheets, towels, washcloths, soap and pillowcases.
Hope Haven is a facility connected to Union Mission, but located in Virginia Beach on North Landing Road. In this serene, rural area are located the beautiful shelters for distressed children and senior citizens. They also host a yearly summer camp for disadvantaged children.
ONESIMUS:
This facility operates at no cost to the state or federal governments but by the generous support of various churches and Christian families and organizations in Hampton Roads. The Onesimus goal is to break the cycle of incarceration by working with local courts who have the option of assigning offenders to the Training Center located on Pocaty Road in Chesapeake. All applicants are thoroughly screened and given an opportunity to learn a trade and work their way back into society.
BETHANY CHRISTIAN SERVICES OF HAMPTON ROADS:
Located on Independence Blvd. in Virginia Beach, Bethany is on call with support for those who need pregnancy counseling, domestic and international adoption, foster care, and post adoption support.
CRISIS PREGNANCY CENTER:
Trained consultants provide alternatives for unplanned pregnancies. They offer free pregnancy tests, adoptions, and centers for free counseling. They are available by phone 24 hours each day.
REFORMED UNIVERSITY FELLOWSHIP:
Calvary has supported this campus ministry of the Presbyterian Church in America for many years. Some of their goals and beliefs include the need for a new life in Christ, the authority of the scriptures and the mission of the church to equip ALL people with the message of the gospel. Students of all beliefs and even those with doubts are always welcomed.
WASHINGTON JAPANESE CHRISTIAN CHURCH:
Calvary has supported the work of the
Washington Japanese Christian Church
by allowing them to hold one of their monthly Bible study and
fellowships at our church property. The Japanese Bible
study meets on the 3rd Saturday of the month in our fellowship hall.
The Washington Japanese Christian Church is also supported by at
least 5 other PCA Churches and the Potomac Presbytery, and holds
other monthly studies in Williamsburg, VA, and Odenton, Md.
Their Sunday service is held in Bethesda, Md.
