Calvary Is...
Calvary was organized as a mission congregation of Park Ave. Presbyterian Church in 1922. Our first full time pastor was called in 1957 by the name of E. Crowell Cooley. In 1961 we relocated from the Glenrock community to our present site (150 Kempsville Rd., Norfolk). In 1973 we voted unanimously to withdraw from the Presbyterian Church in the United States. Calvary retained her property and became a charter member in the
Presbyterian Church
in America (PCA) in 1973.
In 1975 Rev. Leon F. Wardell was called to be the second full time pastor of Calvary. In 1977 Ed Wallace was then called to be Calvary's first assistant pastor and later went on to plant a daughter church in the Churchland area of Chesapeake.
